Happy New Year! Wow, it’s 2013, where does the time go? It seems like we just celebrated 2012! Where was I for New Year’s Eve 2012? No, I don’t mean location, Richard and I were celebrating with our friends Paul and Jimmy, but I mean personally, where was I?  Like us on Facebook  Follow us on Twitter

Perhaps the other question would be where were you? What was you life like on January 1, 2012? Did you make any resolutions? How did you do with keeping those resolutions or reaching the goals that you wanted to achieve for the year.

I’ll be honest and say that I didn’t do all that I set out to do. I expected to have my book published by now and I don’t. However, in my quest of being more aware, I realize that I slipped back into old habits of putting other things and people ahead of myself and making my needs less importance. That’s right, I was again putting myself last. The last few months of 2012, I became more and more aware of that and when I did, I started to put the brakes on. Whoa!!!!!

I speak a lot about awareness, when I talk with the groups that I do, the organizations that I’m involved with and the people that I see on a daily basis, I talk about the importance of being aware of our actions and why we are or are not accomplishing the tasks that we want to. I guess I need to listen to my own advice, huh?

Being aware of our own actions is so very important, it’s what can make the difference between success and failure. So now that I’ve reflected on my own life in 2012, I can see what held me back from getting that book published and I’m taking the steps to necessary to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Back in 2004, when I left NJ, I did what I called “cleaned house” and I got rid of all the negative thoughts and negative people in my life. I believe that we all need to do that at times and that if we really look at what is fulfilling us vs what is draining us it makes the decision to change easy.

So, what’s 2013 going to look like for me….my book is going to be published. I’m going to let go of some things that no longer fuel the passion I have for working with others, inspiring, motivating and mentoring and I’m going to incorporate more of the people and organizations that appreciate me and where I feel I can make a difference in my corner of the world.
